Hanging waterer

I currently use a hanging waterer ( the type you normally see with the red bottom) But y chicken hit it and splash the water around. I have to raised up pretty high but they still swing that thing and get water all over.

what do you do to keep this from happening?

This has always been the problem with trying to hang a waterer.

I simply use a 2 gallon or 3 gallon galvanized waterer and change the thing every day.

Presently, i am using a kiddie pool next to the barn for a waterer for the free range chickens.

They really like the thing and my dog likes it too. Oh, and when my big ol' cochin roo flogs me i throw his butt into the pool.

He just hates that.

Get a bigger waterer. I have a 8 gallon hanging waterer in my coop,,,its too heavy for them to swing it around.
