hanging waterers and feeders

our coop is finally ready and we're trying to decide if we use a hanging feeder or mount something to the wall of course with a hanging feeder more can drink at the same time - any experiences to share? also with the feed, is there ever a problem with the birds flying into the hanging ropes or chains holding the feeders?

My one likes to run and jump kick the feeder so the food hits the ground. Other than that I've never had a problem. My waterer is set up on concrete blocks. They still manage to kick straw and dirt in it.

so, I guess I'm resigning myself that the water will be dirty no matter what (lol) - it'll be another fact of life! right now they turn and put their butts over it and poop on it

Lol! Mine splash some out to make mud. I go out a couple times a day to get all the stuff out so they have clear clean way for 5 minutes.

An enclosed hanging nipple waterer (PVC, bucket, etc) won't get any dirt in it so that's an option to consider.
