Same! This is an awesome community. I've known about it for years (googling around the internet) and have used it a LOT since getting my chickies. Figured it was about time to join.
Thanks! As an editor, I work with writers in almost all genres except memoir. I personally write high fantasy. I love to make up worlds and cultures. I'm thrilled to be three chapters away from finishing my WIP. Fingers crossed that I'll celebrate that win on New Year's Eve. Do you also write?Welcome to BYC. I'm interested in hearing more about your writing. What genre do you prefer?
Days are short right now, that's for sure! Having only one layer at 28 weeks had me worried that I was doing something wrong, but I came here to learn more and found out that it's no big deal. They lay when they lay, and that it is influenced by the length of the day. I'm north of latitude 47. Winter solstice is a little over 8 hours of daylight, but we have gloriously long summer days, almost 16 hours. I know you all know this, but was I ever proud of my Welsummer Dorothea's first egg!Hello and welcome to BYC!
So glad you decided to join us. Nice variety of breeds you keep, makes for a colorful chicken yard for sure! Your birds should start laying well in the spring, the short days of winter will slow the egg production way down.
