This morning I had to do a bagel run. On my way back home I was at a red light on a four lane highway intersection. Out of the corner of my eye to the right ahead of me I saw a momma mallard duck with eight babies crossing the two lane highway going towards a median dividing the lanes. I thought OH NO, since we were at a red light no traffic was going towards them and they made it to the median and stopped. One baby decided to start crossing the other two lanes, OH NO - momma followed with the others in tow. I saw traffic heading towards them from the other direction OH NO - the drivers did spot them, slowed down for them and they made it all the way across! Boy did they paddle across in record speed! But they made it! Yay! That made my day! I feel better towards humanity today.

Its always nice to see humans do something nice for the wee ones. So glad they made it!
Last spring, I whitnessed something not as nice. There are several small lakes in the community where my mother lives, and the Canada gees population is larger than life! I was leaving from a visit with my mother, when I saw the most HORRIFIC thing. There were several large gees crossing the road...where the speed limit is only 25 mph...and this car drove right through the whole bunch.!! Feathers went flying everywhere. By the time I go to the spot, there was a woman sitting on the side of the road, with a dying goos in her arms, she was crying so hard....I sat with her...and we tried to keep the others calm. Several didnt make it. The police never got the IDIOT that killed all those gees. I just dont understand.
