Ever since my neighbor's dog killed 6 of my hens last February, I've been down to 3 hens and 1 rooster out in the coop. Days ago when I locked them up at night there were only 2 hens. I called and looked, nothing. I never found any feathers but knew this couldn't be good. Yesterday when I was out walking in the yard I found a small foot and almost cried til I realized it wasn't a hen's foot but some other animal.

Today I look out and there are THREE hens again! Woohoo! I have no idea where she's been but she looks fine. Crazy!

I wondered about that too. We had a speckled sussex that didn't return to the coop last year when she became broody. Unfortunately, she met with a bad end as evidenced by a pile of feathers and part of a wing.

Another possibility- my sons just mentioned that when they opened up our "mini barn" last evening to get out the mower there was a chicken locked in there. Hmm, wonder how long she'd been in there?

Hello there! I've been to your neck of the woods a few times to pick up patients. Pretty country. I also love your verses posted.
