"Okay." Hannah grinned. "Come on Casper. Casper?" Casper was standing still, not moving, his eys wild, foam appearing around his mouth.Julie shrugged. "Let's follow the creek." she said.
Casper reared up, screaming in a high pitched whinny, and flailing his legs at Julie. "Julie, get back!" Hannah yelled, trying to stay calm. She dismounted, and pulled down on the reins, bringing Casper back down onto all fours. She patted his nose, and gave him the apple she'd meant to give him earlier."Casper? What's wrong?" Julie asked, getting off Grace.
"Remember I told you how he will remember his past abuse and become extremely wild? Well, that's what just happened. I can't stop these memories from coming back to him, and when they do"---Hannah's were glittery with tears---"he becomes really wild and aggressive. He's just so scared; he doesn't know who to trust anymore."Julie backed up. Grace snorted. "Casper, what's wrong?" Grace asked worriedly.
Casper nickered and nuzzled her. "Well, shall we continue?" Hannah said, rubbing the tears from her eyes. She still hated to imagine the cruelty her horse had been through."Oh" Julie said softly. She walked back to him, rubbing his neck softly.
