Little Mitzy was placed in the stall aside Starfire, and the two nickered happily. Skyler unhooked her halter and hung it up.

Julie, a growl rising in her chest, walked over to the chestnut mare. "Nice horse, be careful with her" she said happily, but the happiness was a thin layer over the deep undertone of warning in her voice.

The next day, Skyler went to go visit Julie.

Julie was sitting in the bench in front or Hope's stall, as usual. She was looking at a vet supply catalog in her lap, a mug of hot chocolate sitting on the bench beside her, and her head in her hand.

Julie growled. "This stable is FOR horses. Horses aren't just for your pleasure. They have feelings, just like you" she said, japing a finger at her.
