"And for our final contestant..." The announcer boomed over the microphone.
Starfire moved up, ready. Skyler took a long, deep breath.
"We have last year's jumping champion, returning for her roaring comeback..."
Skyler took another breath, rubbing Starfire.
"Skyler, on her horse, Starfire!!!"
The audience gave a great roar, cheers and whoops replied.
"Alright, let's go Starfire!!!" Skyler called, kicking Starfire into a canter. He reared and came thundering out of the tunnel where they waited. This made the audience cheer louder. For a moment, Skyler forgot everything. She merely focused on the course. She moved to the first rolltop. "Starfire, you know what to do. Let's do this!" She murmured to him, clicking him into a canter. The audience hushed instantly, awed. "Inside!" She called, fixing her diagonals. Starfire's powerful stride lengthened, and he sailed over a rolltop. Skyler turned a hard left to a combo of 4 foot cavalettis. "Outside!" His stride shortened, and he held his head up, proud as he took fleeting steps, sailing over the cavalettis. Skyler veered him right for three closely-knit oxers. "Keep outside." She told him. "You can't afford to lose any points now, boy." She murmured, lifting up and fleetingly leaping the oxers. The audience roared, then hushed again when Starfire got close to a water jump. "Inside!" She commanded, Starfire lengthening his stride. He bunched his muscles up and leapt up. Another series of combination jumps, and they were done. "One final push! Inside!" Starfire whinnied happily and his stride grew even more powerful. She leapt him over the combo jumps, and halted him.
The audience was awestruck. As soon as they stopped, they all came up into a swarm of cheers and whistles.
I posted that for Silkies just so we knew where the last post was... I know no one's there...
