Michel grinned, watching the horse and rider closely. He willed the judge to pick them for first place, crossing his fingers.

The first rider rode a tall black thoroughbred with an English saddle. Her horse was unruly and wouldn't trot when she told him until she hit him with the crop. Even then, her posting trot wasn't good. She wasn't in time with her horse and her posting wasn't in sync, causing her horse to falter.

However, the rider before her put up a hard fight. Her horse's head stayed low and his stance wasn't great, but his stride was short and professional-looking. You could count 1,2,1,2 on his feet. Skyler watched her posting. She rose up and down with each move of her horse. It wasn't perfect, but it was good.
