She sighed and stepped aside to keep from getting kicked. A man and woman walked over from the neighbor's house. "You must be Julie" the man called. "Thanks for coming to get them"

The mare squealed it slowly faded into just a low groan of pain

"Yeah, I'm Julie. Could y'all help me get her in the trailer?"

They nodded. "Have you got a sheet or stretcher?"

"Yeah" Julie said, grabbing it.

The little mare watched them fearfully

(Sure)

"He girl" Melissa said with a smile.  "Who's your owner?"

Anna snorted backing up a bit. "He's a selfish old grouch who thinks of no one but himself," she growled, pinning her ears.

"Well that's no fun" she said. "I guess you're hungry"

Julie spread the sheet out beside the mare.

 

[Rezia]

"'Course I am," Anna snorted. "He hasn't dragged his mangy butt over here to feed me for at least three days!"

"Temper temper" she joked, walking to the feed room.

Anna laid her ears back again. Humans... She thought, rolling her eyes. They aren't the brightest creatures ever.

Melissa walked back with a bucket of sweet feed.

Anna's ears pricked involuntarily. Maybe the humans are good for something after all! She thought.
