Roscoe ate the feed hungrily. He was rarely fed, and when he was it was to keep him alive for many more years of torture.

Julie saw Klondike, the last horse on the farm. "You didn't think I'd leave you, did ya?"

Klondike whinnied excitedly and reached his neck over to sniff her, "Your back!" he said happily.

Klondike neighed softly and pawed the ground impatiently. He was ready to leave this place for good, he knew that he'd eventually find someone that was kind and gentle.
