Hello all !
My name is Bee Bee and I am a mother of 2 boys, age 7 and 13... my fiance' and I have started a small farm at our home in East Hampton, CT. Currently we have 18 young chickens (we believe 3 are roosters), 3 white call ducklings, 5 baby geese and a HUGE garden and multiple varieties of fruit trees...along with our Tosa Inu puppy, Molly and 5 year old American Eskimo named Sophie.
Our little operation started with us just wanting fresh eggs, vegetables and fruits...and has turned into sort of an obsession for me. I have always had a green thumb, but this is my first year raising birds. After spending some time researching chicken production and talking to other farmers, I have decided I'd like to start selling eggs and chicks along with my homemade preserves and sauces.
I have a great idea for turning an old standing chest freezer that was in our basement when we moved into this house into an incubator.. I've been so excited about it all day and couldn't wait for my fiance' to come home and tell him about it!! I am excited about taking pics and creating a blog about it to share with you as well... My chickens are still young (only 2 months) so I still have plenty of time to make this all happen.
There is still so much I have to learn, but this site has been an amazing and informative outlet for me.. Thank you BYC and thank you to all the other members here who are so quick to answer everyone's questions and be helpful... I am so happy to be part of this community
Regards and Thanks,
Bee Bee K.
