HAPPY NEW YEAR! Does the same rule for introducing roo o hens apply

Do I need to use the same rule when introducing a rooster to a flock of hens. Meaning put the roo in a sepate cage and let them stare at each other for a few weeks?

i would separate him so if he is sick .and let them get ysed to one another
