Thanks for the welcome everyone, I have been around chickens all my life. But have never hatched any eggs with an incubator, my dad was good at it.
I’ve been in the chicken business (breeder farm), and am still in the cattle business, plus I still work full time in construction.
I’m wanting to raise my own eating chickens, like we did growing up,I have a six year old granddaughter that loves chickens, so I’m going to build her some hoop coops and use as a chicken tractor to raise our birds, I have one problem, she said the only ones I can butcher are the roosters lol.
Here’s the one we built for her last weekend, she has a RIR rooster in it and checks him everyday, she loves her coupe.

(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens?

I'm semi new? I've been volunteering over a year at a community farm that has had chickens for a long time.

(2) How many chickens do you have right now?

The farm has about 20 chickens - some laying and some in hentirement.

(3) What breeds do you have?

All sorts! Dorkings, a dark brahma, buff orphingtons, some lakenvelders, a silver laced cochin, and some other breeds I'm not sure of.

(4) What are your favorite aspects of raising backyard chickens?

Bonding with them - they all have their own personalities and earning their trust (by treat bribery of course) has been very fulfilling.
