I was doing a trial run with 9 muscovy eggs and, boy, are these much harder than chicks and quail I've hatched in the past. It really pointed out how ineffective my cheap incubator is; these guys are not forgiving at all!

I had two hatch at day 35 on schedule; then no more. Day 37 i was ready to throw in the towel because no others had pipped and I noticed a lot of movement still in the eggs. I assisted one that had been internally pipped for over 24hrs. His head is hanging out in the shell and I'm keeping it moist to avoid shrinkwrapping but the membranes are still pretty bloody. One other has externally pipped but no other progress yet. Anyone ever experience such a delayed hatch? My temp was high (unbeknownst to me with three different therms reading all over the place) and I did a dry hatch until lockdown. Maybe cold spots in the cheap-o incubator? The chicks that hatched had large egg sacs still hanging that dried up nicely but the first time I've ever seen that. The chick in the half shell was super wet and bloody. Idk why the membranes are not drying up -_-
