Hi everyone — I’ve been keeping chickens for a while now, but I also have turkeys, geese and ducks. Their interactions have been both interesting and entertaining as they create their own flock society! I have some cross-species connections that are firmly established and it’s been a bit of hit and miss to figure out who can be housed with whom! All of mine are free-ranging during the day, but I put the rest in at night in two separate pens. Ducks and geese share one large (divided) space as the geese tend to bully the ducks; two young chickens and two turkeys who were raised together from chicks; then a cockerel and hen who keep entirely to themselves and roost at night in the barn in one of my horse stalls, and one lone hen who is bonded to the ducks and very attached to me. It’s an interesting group! Does anyone else out there have odd assortments? How do they get along? I’m looking ahead at winter and thinking about changes I’ll need to make. Any ideas/experience/advice? Thanks!

Greetings & Salutations. Welcome .

Only chickens for us as well. Other members have other poultry and will chime in.

This is a wonderful site on which to Learn and enjoy. We are pleased to have you in the community.

Welcome to BYC! My geese also were mean to my ducks so I keep my geese separate. My chickens were also mean to my Ducks so I keep them separate too. And some of my ducks were mean to each other so I have two separate duck flocks now L O L

Welcome to BYC! I only have chickens, but I have a hen who was raised indoors as an only chick. She is outdoors now but she loves my cats.
(She especially loves their food bowls and their litter box. )

Welcome to the forum! I've successfully kept ducks and chickens together peacefully thus far. I just avoid keeping my hens around drakes since I don't want any injuries sustained.
