Long time lurker..finally joined so I can chat with you all.
A little about me...
1. Have had backyard chickens for about 7 years now.
2. Current flock is 10 - 1 rooster and 9 hens : Speckled Sussex , Buff Orpington and a couple of RI Reds. Expecting 6 peafowl eggs in the next day or two.
3. Why backyard chickens? Because they’re awesome! Just fun to sit on the porch and watch them wander and peck. Plus eggs! And gives my border collie something to herd.
4. Hobbies: bee keeping, hiking, wine and good food
5. Married with 2 teenagers. 2 dogs (border collie and a great pyr mix), 2 cats, 2 bee hives. Greatest challenge is keeping the electric fence up and running. Our property backs onto the Green Mountain Forest so bears and foxes are a thing. I lost my Sebastopol goslings earlier this year when someone left the gate open
