My family and I are just starting to seek out and resource chickens we wont have our coop ready till mid may. My husband asked what i would like for a 5th anniversary gift. He asked me if i would like jewelry or somthing for my car.or CHICKENS. Well that was a obvious one for me. So we have cleared the site and have been making several pages of notes as to requirments of the ladies. This is going to be fun. My girls are so happy . my four year old would like a purple fluffy one (so it will be a lavender cochin or buff orpinton) I would love any suggestions for our coop. It will be fun to work on this together. thanks for any imput we will have heat and lights in our coop to dry the cochins feet and keep the girls cozy. Can I put bantam cochin with buff orpintons and do they need to be the same age? If we have 6 birds and make 3 nesting boxes should i be making a 12x12 for the cochin and a 14x14 for the buff orpinton? or just extra hay in the 14x14 for the cochin....thank you
from Ohio. So glad you're joining in on the fun. If you get your chicks all at the same time, their differences in size usually won't matter if they grow up together and they can all use the same large sized boxes.
