Hello all and thank you for the welcome. We just received our chicks this week and I've already learned a lot from BYC. Looking forward to our little flock growing up happy and healthy

Here's my answers to the questions:
(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens?
Yes, we are new to chickens! My husband and I have been doing a lot of reading and he recently finished our coop so it's all ready when they are.

(2) How many chickens do you have right now?
We have eight chicks.

(3) What breeds do you have?
Two white Silkies, and one each of white Cochin, Barred Rock, black Australorp, buff Orpington, Partridge Rock, and White Rock. We know the assorted breeds are all females but the Silkies' sex will be a surprise!

(4) How did you find out about BackYardChickens.com?
Google

(5) What are some of your other hobbies?
We like spending time outside, maintaining our home, creating a habitat for wildlife in our woods, birdwatching, and spending time with friends and family.

(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share.
My husband and I do not have children but we have two male cats who might as well be . We have been planning our chicken project for a long time and can't wait to get started!

Beautiful babies! If you would like to share Pictures and Stories of them and/or other critters, you have come to the right place. BYC’ers never tire of these and do not back away slowly or commence eye rolling when the photo album or home videos come out

Including your general location on your profile will assist others. Location, climate, season etc can be important factors when members are responding to any questions you may have and vice versa.
