When the snow left we found two fox dens about 130 yards behind the chicken coop. Both are being actively used with daily fresh tracks and droppings. I was hoping that one would come around so we could shoot it but no luck. Now my brother who traps tells me don't shoot them, their fur isn't good. My husband said if I mess by their den too much then they will leave. Well that is what I want so everyday I've been going out and smoothing out the sand around their dens after checking for new tracks and droppings. I've been doing this about two weeks. The last two days I've found my guineas hanging around by the den, poor dumb birds have no idea! So today I've decided to step up the activity and hopefully scare them off. I sent my son out to pee next to the dens. He thought it was great. Any other ideas how to make it an unpleasant place for a fox to live?

I was going to suggest urinating by the dens.

get a ranger or land protection officer im sure they will bate the dens out. another thing they can do and so do we is gas them out. fumitoxin tablets wehn activated turn into a toxic gas that clotts the blood. if they will do it they will put a bit of water into the hole a few tablets and cover the whole immeadiatly. or get your car or truck/tractor perfably. put a non plasic pipe on the exaust and out the other end down the hole. cover the hole and stomp on it and then rev whatever you have. hummane and they die witthin 20 seconds

I am very pleased to say our fox have moved on to greener pastures or sandier dens. It seems we have made living with us unpleasant enough!! We have had no new tracks or sign in about two weeks! Now that I finished a fox proof yard! Oh well it's done in case they come back.
