Can a fox jump through a fence that has 4 foot hardware cloth lining it?

Hmmm okay. Lots to think about. I'm gonna have to stick with what I got considering how much time and money has already gone into it. I'll just bring the dogs out in the evenings and hope that works. Crazy how much there is to consider when free ranging chickens!
🙂 yep it is not just us that likes to eat chicken.

You maybe able to scrounge other materials or there maybe someone online trying to offload things that can be useful to make it more secure.

There are also video's online showing how the commercial chicken and turkey farmers make the best use of their dogs in keeping their flocks safe.

I have to ask; are all foxes equally wily and persistent? The ones we have here are gray foxes and are rather small, compared to others I've seen in videos or in nature programs.

Either way, I'll keep trying to secure the area. It's just a really big area so I can only do so much at a time.

My goodness look at how cute/beautiful these little buggers are...

I'm thinking of putting two lines of electrified wire on my fence. I was just out there looking at it. I could do a low one and a high one to prevent climbing.

They are usually very cunning and very persistent, they will make multiple attempts to achieve their goals, some will even hide their digging so that they can come back to it.

We don't have grey foxes here but according to the internet the main difference between red and grey fox's apart from size is that grey foxes tend to be more aggressive.

They are cute but when they have been introduced like they have been here they can be a big problem for native animals, pets and livestock.

Yeah lots of people have success with electric wires on their fences, there is also electric mesh / electric netting that is available. McChooky said that they were looking at making a roller for the top in an earlier post which would stop them getting over the top of the fence.
