I kind of got off track. With either the dual spring upgrade using the two springs placed inside the feeder or the newer spring adjustment bolt you can tweak the spring tension to allow your light hen to open the feeder. With the dual springs you can remove the counter weight. Then fashion some sort of extra step on top the treadle. Even 1/4" plywood will work inside a coop. A chunk of old license plate or other tin, anything light weight and not over say 3/8" thick. Add this extra wide step before you adjust the spring tension. A couple of screws will hold the plate in place. The further away from the feed the better but you can move it around until the little one can get to the feed.
