Hard boiled eggs, how do you give it them?

I did buy mealworms, wondering if I should start w/ that now. Hearing how fun it can be to watch them, lol. Who knew chickens could be so entertaining, and so sweet! When one settles down on your chest and goes to sleep, it's the sweetest feeling :wee

My goodness they went nuts!! At first they were very cautious, looked the hard boiled egg, walked around it, pecked at pine shavings next to it, next thing I know it looked like a shark feeding frenzy on the Discovery Channel!!

LOL - once one tries something, they all must!

When I feed eggs I always smash them so they don't LOOK like eggs, just to be on the safe side. I don't want to inadvertently suggest that egg eating is a good behavior. Lately, the easiest/fastest thing is to crush an egg in a bowl, shell and all, and microwave it about a minute then feed it all to the girls. I'm not sure what protocol is for feeding eggshell to young chicks, but my adult birds get any broken eggs fed back to them, shell and all.

Been reading about all the treats some birds get, my girls are about 1-1/2 weeks old, doing well. I put some chick grit in their brooder yesterday. Would love to try a treat or two. Heard hard boiled eggs are good and the chicks supposedly love them and the eggs are full of protein. How do I do it though? Just stick an egg in there? cut in half and put half of it in there, or do I mash it up or crumble it up?

Sorry for being naiveté but I've never done this chicken thing before!

I take our extra eggs and scramble them n a bowl and nuke them. Then i mince with a fork. I also add pieces of bread. My older birds are crazy over it. For my tiny chicks I just mince the eggs good with a fork and they cobble it up. I also take the egg shells and bake them a bit then put them in a baggie..break the shells up and toss them to my layers..or toss them in the garden.

I feed dry and live mealys. I raise my own..and find my newly hatched babies really seem to start eating quickly. The hens w/babies really like to feed them to. For my bigger birds..i buy dried meal worms in bulk..and toss them around as a treat when I first turn them out. Live worms r great for sick chickens to. Sometimes, when they won't eat anything else, they'll eat a mealworm.

My chicks had zero interest in broccoli- I was surprised! I thought they might peck at it, but they didn’t even look at it. Maybe when they are a bit older they might be more interested.
I have noticed my younger chicks turn thier beaks up at greens when they are just hatched..but as they get older they expand thier preference for other foods. I grow broccoli and by the time they are 4-5 mo..they devour it..spinach to.
