I am sure this has been discussed before, but are there any secrets to taking shells off fresh eggs when hard boiled.

Thanks in advance

Really? I use same-day-laid eggs but I put vinegar in the water AND pierce the shell. They peel off like zippers.

I add salt to the boiling water. I turn the pot to med once it starts boiling and when done I immediatey fill the pot with cold water and let sit a while before peeling. The shells come right off with no problems.
