hard boiled eggs

Can anyone settle this for me and my wife. We had this argument b.c.(before chickens). My wife says to add vinegar to the water when boiling eggs to make them easier to peel. I say the eggs need to be older eggs, they cant be fresh eggs. Any input.

Fresh eggs that are boiled for 14 minutes peek without a problem. There a number of threads that deal with the subject on BYC.
