We have 7 six-week olds and they are now outside in their coop. It's the doll house type coop with a roost box and then the run is underneath. They still have their heat lamp out in the roost box and the door is slid shut, but I am worried that tonight will really make them cold. It is supposed to hit 28 degrees and the wind is blowing. Tomorrow will be in the upper 50, but tonight is what I am worried about,

With the heat lamp, will they be okay or should I find a big cardboard box and bring them into the garage?

From my seasoned perspective of not quite a year of chicken keeping I think they should be fine but if I had just put my babies out in the coop and it was going to freeze, knowing myself and my imagination, I'd haul them all inside so I could get a good night's sleep. I'd still put the heat lamp on them in the garage too!

Totally agree with True Grit, sounds like the best possible solution for everybody involved.Having said that, may I add that it was 99 here today with almost 70% humidity and my 9 week olds and their 1 year old coop mates have been sweating their fuzzy butts off.
