Hard lump

Today I noticed our buff Orpington named Dinosaur acting a bit off. She was eating but then would just stick to herself. I noticed she had poop stuck to her feathers so I brought her in to wash her off and noticed a hard lump. She is about 7 months old. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

It is hard to see, but is the lump at her vent opening? Does she have a prolapsed vent (cloaca?) If she is prolapsed keep the prolapse tissue from drying out by applying some honey, vaseline, or cortisone cream to it every couple of hours. How old is she, and does she lay eggs regularly? Has she been constipated or straining to lay an egg or poop? Here is an article on prolapses:

It is below her vent, as in more on her underside belly. She isn’t constipated, and I’m not sure about eggs. I have several that lay her color so I’m not sure but will be watching.

I would try to get a more clear picture. Does it feel soft or hard? Does it seem like a hernia, a tumor or cyst, or an ingrown feather cyst?

Abscess, scabbed over wound, cuterebra bot (fly larvae under skin), tumor, cyst, ingrown feather follicles, splinter or foreign body all possible. Try a warm moist compress for 10-20 minutes, clean away any pus or softened blood/scab/drainage. Flush with warm water or peroxide, remove any dirt or foreign material. Keep open and draining, protect from flies and dirt. If pus is present keep hot packing and flushing daily until it turns to blood or serum (clear fluid) then allow to scab over and heal.
