Yes, you would be able to see the tick, looking like a bug "ostrich" with its head buried in the hen's skin. If you have woods or forest abutting your yard, you've got ticks. Chickens are ace about eating tics and keeping them under control. I'm surprised another chicken hasn't see it and snagged it.
