Yes, you would be able to see the tick, looking like a bug "ostrich" with its head buried in the hen's skin. If you have woods or forest abutting your yard, you've got ticks. Chickens are ace about eating tics and keeping them under control. I'm surprised another chicken hasn't see it and snagged it.

If you do discover the lump is a tick, stick a generous glob of petroleum jelly on it, the tic will then struggle to breathe and back out of the skin. Give it to your pretty girl to finish off.

Ok I did as good of an investigation as I could.. she doesn’t like being held under my terms ha! If I’m feeling it right it actually seems to have gone down.. I don’t feel a tick or see any.. (hard to see with feathers) I’ll look again when I have a second person to hold her. It seems to move a bit (the lump)..I’ll check again when she is roosting. Doesn’t seem like a tick though and maybe it’s gone down a little.. it was hard to feel today where the other day it seemed more obvious.
