Morning! Cracked this egg and this mass was in it…about 1/2” from a 4yo Black Copper Marans with normal shell and no change in behavior-still feisty and active. It is hard.
Any thoughts?
I'd consider that a "meat Spot" in this guide I've lined below. To start an egg through the hen's internal egg making factory she drops a yolk into a funnel open to her body cavity. Things in her body cavity sometimes go through that funnel and become part of an egg. Those "things" can be parts of organs that have sloughed off or other bits and pieces of her insides.
I have no idea what that is. I personally would not be concerned. But because meat spots and blood spots can show up in our eggs I recommend you always open your eggs in a separate small bowl before adding them to anything. You never know what you may find.
