Hard water affects taste of eggs?

The county only test at sales or for occupancy permit. They check for chloirne, bacteria and turbidity. Not a very comprehensive test!
To the OP concerns, if it is to "funky" to filter a Brita will not work. It will clog very quickly. And a clogged filter is a bigger health threat then the original water. It concentrates the impurites.
Good Luck

I have extremely bad iron well water -- nasty I use Bottle water for cooking and drinking - but my horse drinks it and my dogs and it's not killed them -- we have a filter ish system but it's not good enough to wash my clothes in or cook cause when it warms it gets a rustic color - wanted to make sure my chickens can drink it and I can still eat them years later -- also wanted to make sure the eggs don't get affected by the water too

We have a prefilter that cost $15 every 4-6months to replace, a softener that cost 1 bag of salt a month, and a reverse osmosis system for drinking water that needs $60 worth of filters about every other year.

We did the RO system because we have a 40foot well and the previous owner used TruGreen a few years, and the farmer next door uses Roundup.........

Initial investment in water filtering and softening stinks but it does help appliances last longer.
