Hard Water

So most of us are dealing with keeping Ladies water thawed , but I have additional issue.
I purchased Farm Innovation heater which is working great! My problem is that it has all kinds of white particles/impurities on it and in the water. I’m assuming it’s hard water causing this.
We get our water through our county water authority.
My question : Is this water safe for my Ladies as is?
I know I can boil out impurities, but that’s a step Is rather avoid if not needed!

I think you are fine . I also have hard water and whenever it is heated (teapot,humidifier,canner, etc.) it clings to surfaces. They are just minerals that are in water all the time . We put a splash of white vinegar in canners, humidifiers. Only use purified water in teapot.

If you have hard water then you are probably used to water heater problems in the house too. The scale coats the heating elements. The scale insulates the element making it hotter then it should be. Then the element burns out prematurely.

You are fine. We have hard water and my current chooks are 3 years old. You just need to make sure the build up doesn't cake up too bad on the heater.
