Hi, about 36 hours ago my chick pipped at the pointy end and I let it do its thing because it was breathing and peeping loudly. But then it started to move a little less and it seemed very tired so this morning I started chipping the shell off and I wet the membrane, seeing that the blood vessels had been all absorbed. I waited a few hours and nothing so I chipped more and more, then I peeled the membrane off, since as I said, the blood was absorbed and in fact it didn't bleed at all. But now the there is something that I don't understand around the chick, at first I thought it was dry membrane but it looks yellow and very hard and I can't get it off. What is it?

Apply coconut oil or triple antibiotic (without pain relief). It’ll loosen up whatever it is and then you can slowly take it off.

Take pics first though so we can see what you’re seeing

I don't have coconut oil at the moment, can I use anything else? Olive oil?

It doesn't sound like the yolk sack. If if was the yolk it would be attached at the bottom of the chick and look like a small yellow ball that still needs to be absorbed.
If it is a membrane around the chick, it's probably the sticky residue that sometimes is left on the chick if humidity isn't right or we try to help our chicks out of the shell.
I have found that you have to wash it off in very warm water to get it off. Depending on how much is on there it can keep the chick from being able open it's wings or even walk. It will cause the chick to look wet and not dry off until you wash it.

This is the thing. I think it might be the yolk sac, but isn't it supposed to be already absorbed since the blood was? I'm very confused. The chick is kicking and trying to get away, it looks frustrated

It's not at the bottom of the chick, it's mostly of its side, it keeps one of the legs stuck
