Hardiest and easiest to train homers?

Oxymoron, hardiest as in withstanding of cold temperatures. I'm looking to buy a few homers with a friend and send them to each other, but winter is almost upon us and I don't want the pigeons to get too cold in the loft.

Feed whole corn as a supplement they will be fine my homers can stand -40º with that extra protein. I live in Canada think North Pole.
