Hardware Cloth on Pen

I might have asked this before, but I can't find it.

Should I put the hardware cloth on the inside or outside of run? Or does it matter?

It doesn’t matter but you may want to make sure it’s sandwiched between wood so coons can’t pull the staples out because apparently they can. Little b@%$&#s

My run is pvc, so it will be zip tied and screwed in. Some areas will even be wrapped too.

I put it on the outside only because of a video I saw of a coyote jumping and pushing on the side walls of a run trying to get in, He was really banging it up and putting a lot of pressure on the HW cloth.
It's my thought that with it being attached on the outside the stresses are more evenly distributed along the whole length of that surface whereas if it were attached on the inside the stress points MIGHT be more constricted to the actually screw/staple or whatever attachment point.

Mine is on the outside, secured with screws and washers into the wood. Screws and washers do not pull out like some staples might.

New to chickens but I built and remodeled houses for 22 years.. I agree w the above about putting in on the outside, sandwiching it with wood and most especially screws and washers, not staples!!

I would put it on the outside that way it is harder for a large predator to push it in, but I would still do what some of the other are saying and sandwhich it between wood.

We did ours on the outside, too. And used lots and lots of self drilling modified truss head screws.
