Hardware cloth?

i have a bit of a weird question: to make our coop fully predator proof I know I have to put something in the ground so nothing can dig in. I have a lot of vinyl siding left over - would I be able to dig that in the ground?

I think it may rot or crack and predators will be able to dig right through that, sorry...I don't think it is a good idea.

I'm wondering if the siding will degrade over time being in the ground ?? not 100%sure on that one .

You could just bury hardware cloth into the ground or do a sheet of it across the bottom.
