Hardware cloth

I’m currently building a run for my bantams, and the store I was buying 1/2’’ hardware cloth from is temporarily not selling any. They still have some 1’’ left. Could I use that for the top portion/roof? The 1/2’’ will cover 4 feet up, and it’s an 8ft enclosure.
