I have 6 harlequin eggs due today. I'm pretty sure 2 passed in shell just before lockdown. 1 pipped yesterday and is out this afternoon. One I made a small hole beside the beak as it was internally pipped 24 hours. It now has its own pip hole close by. The one I'm concerned about has pipped all the way at the end, and I mean all the way. I have had to assist chickens in this position before. I do not know when this one pipped. It could have been last night or while I was at work. When should I assist?

Maybe just enlarge the hole slightly. If the duckie is going to make it, the slightly larger opening may be just enough. You can get much better advice from your close friends than what I offer. :hugs

You ARE one of my close friends!

I had to go to bed, so against what I wanted, I opened up the inky and checked to make sure it was still alive. It looked like it might have flipped somehow and it's beak was in the air cell. I made an emergency pip hole next to what looked like it's beak. Somehow managed to hit a tiny blood vessel. It bled out the hole just a smidge, but not excessive. I then went to bed. I'll check now that I'm up, but have to go to work. We'll see what happens when I get home.

what day is it on? Don't do anything yet, often times they can hatch just fine. Be patient

Almost day 30. It truly is stuck. I chipped the shell all the way around and peeled the membrane to expose its beak. I did the same for the properly pipped chick. The proper chick hatched and dried off. Wrong end one hasn't budged.
