I certainly agree with the need for candling. But has anyone ever experienced an egg exploding in an incubator? When I was young, we incubated thousands of quail eggs, many many chicken eggs and a good many duck eggs.
I don't think my dad knew about candling. Anyway, we never had an egg explode in the incubator.

I came very close....lol luckily the membrane was so tough that it held it together.

I have only ever had one that smelled as well and was able to find it and get it out before it had a chance to explode.
