Has Anyone bought eggs online and have any success?

My first attempt off eBay was great! Confession: someone else incubated and hatched. Hatch rate: 100% kinda.

Bought 6, received 8. Two eggs didn’t make it: 1 was not fertile. The other just stopped after a while.

The seller was wonderful and helpful. Really great. So was my post office.

I want to try hatching some myself so I’m working out a deal with a seller for 4 eggs... through eBay of course. Make sure you check the feedback.

One benefit is the wide variety!

I have just discovered a downside to eBay.

people can sell eggs on eBay and CLAIM they are X,Y, or Z.

That doesn’t mean they are. I have to keep reminding myself...talk is indeed, very , very, cheap.

Yeah, I've learned to search for images of breeds before buying. Odds are if it's in the first few rows of google, it's not their picture

Well the eggs I just received are probably medium, certainly no larger. I also compared it to one of my real English Orp eggs... well, all I can say is... I don’t think they are English Orps.

all I can say is, maybe she is desperate for money.

I'm a no on ebay eggs I've ordered twice and didn't get a hatch either time. I also just received eggs meyer and I am happy about their process or damaged eggs but I'm a little skeptical on what they sent me. Lavender orp eggs that are medium size at best.

My main red flag for hatching eggs on ebay = sellers who go into a full on rant about how feedback is for shipping ONLY and they don't guarantee, this, that, blah, blah.

To me, that means they're selling fertilizer. Also, if they don't leave feedback until the buyer does (you used to be able to look at how much they gave, if they had XXX feedback but had given X feedback - it's been a long time since I ebayed, I don't know if you can still check) another red flag. Sellers should leave feedback as soon as they're paid - that's literally the only thing they have to leave feedback about. Holding it hostage until a buyer gives them the rating they want is a massive red flag that they're scamming.

Now, It's been nearly a decade, but when I sold eggs, I ASKED buyers to feel free to update their feedback with their hatch rates and pictures of chicks and let me know if they didn't get X# of chicks that were blue. I always had happy buyers, great feedback and a 90% hatch rate unless the PO smashed eggs.
