Has anyone bred Pekin and welsh harlequin ducks together??

How’s Joy doing since you gave pain meds
Shes ok, thank you. Shes so tired, shes in and out. I hear a light "clicking" when she breathes sometimes, I think shes congested. I think shes miserable, and its killing me now watching her. Before she could hop and scoot at least, now she struggles just to find a position that doesnt hurt (?)or doesnt flip her leg more backwards than it already is. I just want to scream right now, I just wish I knew what to do here. Can she have any quality life? Or are her legs & bones hurting with every movement. Maybe shes just exhausted and will perk up. Maybe I'm just exhausted & overly emotional. Just wish she could talk to me.

I think you need to get some rest and think about all of this tomorrow. :hugs

I'm sorry Miss Lydia. Right after I posted that, she wanted to sit up and "talk". Got some really cute pics and videos.

How can you resist that precious little one. She is so adorable. But please don’t apologize. Do you think the Metacam has help her relax some?
Possibly, hard to tell. I gave her very little so might have not been the full dose. Lastnight, she didnt go to bed until 2:30am. Tried to feed her, but she only took about 5-6 bites. Other her laying across the palm of my hand, cradling her on her belly, with her legs dangling down, it's very hard for her to find a comfortable position, and obviously, I cannot hold her while I'm sleeping so ... it was tough. Something is making her legs arch back, and hard.... just have to figure out what that is.

Any chance of getting her to another vet? I know you were disappointed in what this avain vet said. Maybe another can give you some answers?

@CatWhisperer
Well, the only other local vet has seen my older ducks on occasion but she doesn't have alot of experience with ducks at all. Everything is always worth a shot. Does anyone know....in order to do xrays, they wouldnt need to put her to sleep or anything, right? I'm kind of thinking some xrays might be helpful. Her leg is still pretty bruised this morning. And shes been having diarrhea pretty bad since yesterday. Although, everytime I offer her water cup, which is often, she could drink the whole thing.... sucks it right down.
Should I give her another dose of pain meds?? Only have her a dose yesterday evening.
I love her so much:love:love Thank you everyone for being such an amazing group of shoulders to lean on. I know you have your own lives, so I appreciate yall so much. :hugs

I can't imagine anesthesia being needed for x-rays but she'd have to be still for a second.
