Has anyone created a hopper window from salvaged window?

Has anyone created a window like this? That would be flipped so that the opening is at the bottom vs the top? I believe it's called a hopper window? I've come across 3 6pane vintage windows I'd like to use for the coop build.. and doing something like this would allow me to open to vent or close up if needed. Hardware cloth behind it of course.

Looking for the logistics of how to do this, but haven't come across anything as far as a how to on google or youtube.. Maybe not searching the right terms...?

I believe what you looking for is a "Awning Windows" what I simple call a top hinged window ...

Depending on how fancy or plain ... you could just make you opening the right size, and screw some hinges on where you want them ... window could be held open with a chain and hook (possible varying degrees of open) or a stick to hold it open ...

Thanks!!! I was also looking at the hardware used to keep a toy box lid open... Looks like it may be a bit of trial and error on this end.

I just built 4 of these windows. I routed a 1/2"W x 3/8"D groove in 1" x 2" board. I bought 4 old storm windows from a neighbor and took the glass out of the metal sash. I measured the glass and added 1/8" to the measurement. Measure and cut the 1" x 2" at 45°. I used Gorilla glue and 18 ga brads to secure the corners.
I have only put one coat of paint on them so far. When I get them painted I will secure the glass with glazing points and then window glazing.
The hinges will go on the top of the sash and be secured to the trim on the coop.

If I could have found old window sashes that were the right measurements I would have used them and just put the hinges on the top. If you can't find any windows that will fit your need you can buy pre-cut/sized panes of glass from most hardware stores. They will also cut a pane for you if needed.

Not yet. I've been lax in taking pics and documenting the build. I will try to get some pics and make a thread tonight. I just used what I know about windows and the tools I have on hand. It's the first time I've ever built window sashes.

That's the type of windows I have on the coop. Hardware cloth on the outside. Tin stops on both sides so the windows will open only so far. Roof overhang prevents rain from coming in. I leave the windows open for ventilation including the winter months.

Ahhh... opening to the inside...that eliminates any(most) rain issues.
Do birds ever roost on upper edge of window when open?
Still seems to take only advantage of minimal of possible window opening.
