Has anyone ever commited homicide while building their coop?

Dh put off building my coop for as long as he could, until I offered to start on it myself. I worked building theatre sets for 4 years, a coop couldn't be that much harder. (especially since there were no dumb actors to come along and mess things up)

My volunteer spirit spurred DH to building it himself. He did a great job. He uses expandable putty to fill in those places that didn't quite line up

He didn't appreciate my reference to the hardware cloth looking like it had been installed by someone on acid.

Somewhere on here is a really cute story about raising chicks and building coops that will make you all laugh your butts off. Have to see if I can find it...

Seriously, Has that EVER Happened? Wish me luck girls, I'm on my way to HD for supplies. We still haven't agreed on how to enlarge our coop but like I told DH this morning, "Honey.... if we don't build nesting boxes the hens will never lay eggs!" He seemed to buy it. His reply was: "So how much are you going to spend? $1000 bucks?" "Only if you don't come with me Sweetie!"

1. Cut up all the wood you bought at HD for fire wood.
2. Go back to HD and buy the $300.00 plastic shed.
3. Hire the 12yr old neighbor to put it together.
4. Install a cat door.

One day's work...Two max....

Reading your post, I'm getting flashbacks. And I know that soon we will be adding on. Perhaps I'll just leave a supply list and plan and take a vacation until its all done.

My favorite is The New Yankee Workshop. Norm has every power tool, jig and gadget known to mankind and a few that havn't been invented yet. Think of what we girls could do in one wekend with his shop!

Hey that might be a great show idea. Anyone know how to get through to him?

When I head back to HD to return the screws and nails we did not need, I am going to buy some of this expandable putty... how do I ask for it? "Um, yes, you can help me... I need some of that putty that can fill in the spaces where we goofed up the chicken coop"

Bless your heart! I know how it is, but in my case I just have the idea of what I want and then my DH does what he wants. It all ends up working out in the end though. Hang in there!

Its expandable caulk, so you have to have a caulking gun. It seems to be pretty sturdy stuff.

Oh my, this is the first I saw the OP. Sooo funny, but soooo familiar.

Repeat after me... "This to shall pass"

and keep repeating it until the project is done.

Good Luck!

Gah! I *wanted* to kill DBF b/c it took him so long to build the coop. We're talking over 2 weeks with someone who is not working atm.

But if I killed him, he wouldn't have finished the coop!

Now, if only he'd finish the fence and the bathroom remodel that's been going on for 2 years.
