Has anyone ever heard of canning a chicken?

Yes, I bought canned chicken years ago. I had a neighbor who canned pigeons as well as just about everything else. Since my dad had racing pigeons, they looked messy to me so I wouldn't be crazy about canned pigeons.

We just canned our first batch of chicken this weekend. Followed the instructions on the web, will see how it turns out. Only canned 2 jars of drumsticks, want to make sure it's good first. If it works, there will be canned chickens instead of frozen. I'm always worried about the freezer up and dying on me.

I've read this thread over and over and I am still confused

The only way I have seen chicken "canned" in Jars, was a video on selfsufficient.com the raw chicken was packed in jars then cooked in the pressure cooker. So, is there another way? I read PdSavage's post and looked at the link ...
You can can anytype of meat you need a Pressure canner not a Pressure cooker ,you can get botulism if you try canning in a Pressure cooker.

You can pressure cook in a pressure canner, but you can’t pressure can in a pressure cooker. That’s the long and short of it, even if sources try to tell you otherwise; the USDA has done the most extensive home-canning testing in the world and their regulations are there to keep you safe! So trust them – they know their botulism (the dangerous bacterium that pressure canning destroys) and they don’t want you dying from it. I can’t even count how many times I’ve heard people wondering how to use a pressure cooker for canning

This got me even more confused

Are they talking about using actual cans? instead of jars?

I don't can meat, but I have 2 cases of snap beans put up already this year and more to come. I also have peas and corn I'll be canning. My tomatoes get washed and put in gal. freezer bags where I can just get however many I need for cooking. Run warm water over them and the skin slips right off. I'll also freeze some ears of corn in the shuck.
