Has anyone ever used a rabbit's cage?

Hey!

My ducks will hatch in about 8-9 days. I got a veryyy large rabbit cage. I intend on putting newspaper under a shelf liner in there with some towels and other warm cuddly things. Any advice? Anyone against this? I see some prefer this alternative to wood chips.

Any tips for a newbie duck momma would be great! Thanks in advance!

I'm with Cori about ducks needing something soft to stand on. I also used towels.

I've seen some rabbit cages made with solid sides. Ducks also need a lot of ventilation, so I would prefer this cage to have wire sides.

It seems ok to me, but maybe you could post a photo since there is a lot of variation in rabbit homes.

Yeah good call, here it is.

How many do you have coming and what breed? You gotta share pictures when they hatch!
Out of the 12 we picked up on the farm, 8 were fertilized. The ducks are free-range and so they breed together. Mostly mallard.

Yeah sure, will do 🤗!

...There's one that seems as though it's a quitter but I'm not so sure because it's still moving. Do you know more about this? I posted a pic of the egg on another thread: Thread 'Duck egg, strange spots - but moving!' https://www.backyardchickens.com/threads/duck-egg-strange-spots-but-moving.1532941/

Maybe you have an idea?
