My six month old rooster hasn't started to crow yet, and I know that he's a he because of his saddle feathers and streamers coming off his neck. Sometimes when he's nervous when I'm watering the plants hell let out a tiny crow, but you can barley hear it. Is this normal? What time did your silkie Roos start to crow by?

I had one that didn't even attempt to try his first crow until 9 months old, but I also had a mature rooster around. I have also seen videos of chicks starting at one week. I think it depends on the bird itself and if there is a mature one around. When there is an older one they tend to start later.

That's the funny thing, he's the only rooster in the flock

Just like with boys some roosters require longer to become sexually mature than others do. Some Oriental strains need a year before they become sexually mature. On the other hand some straight combed strains only need 4 or 5 months.
