has anyone gotten rid of vent mites with vaseline?

one of my hens had a small infestation and i couldn’t find diatomaceous earth or any of the other usual treatments, so after her bath i put a generous amount of vaseline over the area hoping to keep them at bay and maybe smother them while i asked around. a few days later i gave her a second bath and trimmed up her butt feathers and all the mites were gone. i haven’t seen any since. i’ve never seen vaseline recommended as a treatment for them, has anyone else had success with this?

Are they mites or lice? Either way, you need to get some permethrin dust or spray from the feed store then treat your chickens and their coop. Vaseline will not work, neither will DE.
