Has anyone had missing birds returning?

A fox will take chickens at any time of the day they feel safe. They will also take several birds in one day and not leave anything behind because they dart in, grab a bird, and then dart out with the bird still alive, they then kill it and cache it out in the forest and come back for the next bird. If your birds disappeared within a few days and there was little to no feathers then it was definitely a fox. Well, unless a human took them.

It could have been a human I wouldn't know we bought this house in May this year so anything is possible but we will get a camera up over the coop so I can see what it is.
 
I had an elderly EE go missing for 6 days. She came back like nothing had ever happened. I was overjoyed she cameback, but she lost her free ranging luxury and must stay penned up or she may leave again.
I'm so sorry to hear yours are gone :'(!!!

I doubt a human would be able to catch them if they disappeared while free ranging. I would guess fox or coyote as your first suspects. Unfortunately, if they have been gone for 2 months, I doubt they'll be coming back.
 
If you have a camera up you should definitely check it, foxes and coyotes are pretty much the only predators that I know of that can wipe out a flock in a day and not leave much evidence.

Every year this neighbor gets a new flock knowing we have a bad fox problem, does not protect them, just chooses to feed the foxes! My next encounter with him is not going to be a good one! :mad:

Here are some videos of foxes, coyotes, and bobcats taking chickens. They only leve being a few feathers and they run off with their kill.
These videos do show chickens getting killed by predators, do not watch if you do not want to see predators hunting chickens. This is meant to show how fast some predators can make your flock disappear.
