OK BYC veterans! I am watching an old PBS special on Netflix called "The History of Chicken." There is an extreme scenario where a man raised roosters for fighting and the neighbors complained because of his 20-30 roosters. Later, they ended up suing him because of the noise. I have 6 chicks about 7 weeks old and 2 are cockerel. This morning one of the fellows tried to crow. I talked to my neighbors next to me, which each of us have a little less than an acre of land, and they said,"OK, fine with me." Has anyone had any issues or complaints because of the sounds from the chicks/chickens? Just really curious especially from the suburban and urban BYCers.

I live in a small town, agricultural part of Michigan. You can't see neighbors from really anywhere on my property (4acres) and everyone on the street is surrounded by trees. I have a few neighbors with chickens and one that shows 4H Roosters. Their roosters crow all day everyday. I had a Sebright rooster that was the loudest and most frequent crowing rooster I have ever had. He started crowing at 2am usually and didn't stop until he went to sleep. Living out here, everyone is at an understanding that there is going to be farm noises but I ended up getting rid of him, from the neighbor living behind me complaining. I didn't have to, but I felt like I should.

Wow! I guess my grandfather was right.....he told me my neighbors would throw my *** out of the neighborhood because of the noise. Thankfully, there is a family friend that is waiting for my little roos. "Crow all day everyday!"
