Has anyone here ever had a parasite before?

If you have pin worms you can see them crawling out of the anus at night to lay their eggs around it. And you need a flashlight to check.

Would I need to wax first????

After reading this, my 8 year old grandson came running to me to see what I was laughing about because he knew I was on BYC. Needless to say I didn't share THIS with him. ROFL!!!

DBF has been laughing his butt off at me because this thread drove me to the local natural foods store to buy an herbal parasiticide. It's called "parastroy", which is almost as hilarious and bad as a product called "worm-b-gone" or some such...

The most common parasite to have is suppose to be roundworms. Something like 83% of all people have it. I read that ages ago, and of course as soon as I read or hear about something, I find out I have it.

Never fails. Sure enough, I discovered not too long after reading that, that indeed, I had the little worms. After my initial panic and complete disgust, I got some meds to cleanse and kill them, though I've probably got them again. So long as I don't see them, then they are not there...

Just wait until the kids go to sleep and then dab their little tail ends with scotch tap. It traps the worms, and you can see them. It sure beats the horror of being woken up by someone with a flash light inspecting.

Many people in Mexico take Amoebriz two of three times a year as a preventative. If you do get infected, you do not let the situation get out of hand.

Wash and soak your fruits and vegetables in that Fit (pronounced feet) solution. There are several similar products that do the job just as well. Just be sure and use one of them. Be very careful with cilantro, parsley and water cress. Salsas in restaurants in Mexico are always a gamble.

Take a bottle of Lomatil with you from home. Some of the stuff they sell in Mexico for this problem can have some side effects.

Cook meats well done. Have your fish fried. No matter what they tell you, don't eat that sushi or ceviche. When dining out, have something fried. That hot grease will probably kill anything. If you have soup from the mercado or una puesta, make sure you see it boiling before you order it.

Be careful with coffee and tea. They tend to use a lot of instant coffee in Mexico. You really want to have perked coffee, not instant just made with hot but not boiled water.

Good Luck,

Rufus
