Has Anyone Lost Any Chickens To The Current Heat Wave????

I'm just wondering?? Has anybody lost any chickens to the heat yet? I put an small A/C unit in my 12' x 24' hen house today but it is still almost 100 degrees in there!!!! I just put new water in, and fed them some plain yogurt, poor chickens.

I have lost one NHR hen that was about 8 weeks old. The 8x8 coop has a 4x4 open window in front, a screen door, and heat vents in the roof but it just wasn't enough to keep this one cool enough I suppose. all the others are fine.

My ladies were happy when I put a fan in front of thier run today. My girls are drinking alot more water these days.

I have heard of some people have heat problems out there.

my hens are all sitting in front of the fan- they love it!

I've lost 2 Silkies and I'm assuming it's to the heat...they're just so fluffy.

I am very worried this year.

It's 106 out there right now and they are panting.

I'm afraid I'm going to lose some now.... it's just so muggy out there.

They've got ice water, but I don't think it's going to be enough.

l lost an older barred rock hen earlier this week; then when l put MORE shade cloth on top of the hen house and placed a large fan outside everyone seemed to recuperate. ( and l also give them cold cantalope and other cold veggies twice a day) But l think the fan is the key-
